The Exorcist (1973)
Trailer
Is it Captain Howdy?
So basically: An actress, Chris, moves to D.C. with her daughter, Reagan, for a movie shoot. However, when her daughter starts behaving oddly, she takes her to the doctor. No one can figure out what is wrong with Reagan. After ruling out several physical possibilities, the doctors start looking into psychiatry and believe Reagan thinks she is possessed. Chris turns to a local priest for help, but he is reluctant to believe the possession is real and an exorcism would do any good. After much observation, he agrees to get the church involved.
This movie starts out slowly and I really don't get what any of the beginning has to do with the actual plot. I mean, sure, it shows Father Merrin's background a bit, but it's not relevant. At all. Srs. Anyway, once it picks up and Reagan is subjected to the doctors' poking and prodding, it gets interesting. All the actors are flawless in this film - I guess since the director went to such extreme measures, eh? - especially Linda Blair as Reagan, that was some fancy floating.
This movie defs deserves to be on the list. It's a classic and not in a pompous way.
Ziggi seal of approval!

I was actually surprised about how much I liked this movie. Being from the era it was I was expecting a lot more cheesey and a lot more lame, but what I got was suitably creepy for the time and excellent in all other aspects. Yeah indeed it starts slow but then BAM! getsagoin like a run away freight train.
ReplyDeleteYEY! SURPRISE!
