The Princess Bride (1987)
Trailer
There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.
So basically: Buttercup finds love in farm boy Westley. Westley seeks out fortune for their wedding, but he gets attacked by an infamous pirate ship. Buttercup, believing her beloved dead, gets engaged to Prince Humperdinck, and then kidnapped by men who want to set off a war between Prince Humperdinck's kingdom and the neighbouring kingdom. And now, the three men who kidnapped her are now being pursued by another man, the Dread Pirate Roberts!
This story is told in storybook form, with a grandfather reading aloud to his grandson who is in bed sick. It's a classic story, one every kid should grow up reading/watching. I believe I saw it once as a kid, but it's very vague in my memory. Unfortunately. I saw it again a few years ago and, obvi, was enchanted by the story. It's predictable, yes, the good guy gets the beautiful princess and defeats the evil monarch and they live happily ever after, but the characters and the different scenes are brilliant! Like Miracle Max! Awesome character. And Inigo Montoya! The characters are memorable and they are what make this film so wonderful. Also, all of the brilliant lines.
It's a fantastical film and defs deserves to be on the list.
Ziggi seal of approval!
