Into the Wild (2007)
Trailer
You're an industrious little fucker aren't cha?
So basically: Chris McCandless has just graduated from college and wants to rid himself of the limitations of a hypocritical society. Without telling his parents or loving sister, he sets out from Atlanta, Georgia to the west coast, changing his name to Alexander Supertramp. When he gets stuck in a sandstorm in Arizona, he ditches his car and hikes to California on foot. He travels the west coast and midwest on foot meeting different and interesting people, but his real goal is to be in the Alaskan wilderness. After over a year of travelling, he finally hitchhikes up to Alaska and stays in a bus isolated from humanity.
What can I say about this movie? Well, I don't agree with Chris' views at all, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this movie. It's two and a half hours long, but the narration and the different stories and settings keep this movie flowing nicely. The two storylines - when he's in Alaska and when he's travelling - are woven together flawlessly and don't seem to interupt each other.
It is beautifully shot, written, directed, and cast, and defs deserves to be on the list.
Ziggi seal of approval!
