The Sting (1973)
Trailer
Luther said I could learn some things from you. I already know how to drink.
So basically: During the Depression, a young con man moves to Chicago after his friend and partner in crime, Luther, is killed. He meets up with Henry Gondorff, another friend of Luther's, to seek revenge on Doyle Lonnegan, the man who murdered Luther. They set up an elaborate con, known as the wire, to steal Lonnegan's fortunes.
Yey, Robert Redford in a pinstripe suit. Watch this movie just for that. Or Paul Newman's brilliant performance as Henry Gondorff (of course, Redford's Hooker is fantastic, too). Or the other secondary characters, all well written and acted. Or the clever plot and surprising ending! What I'm trying to get across is that there isn't anything that's lacking in this film.
This movie totally deserves to be on the list.
Ziggi seal of approval!
