Toy Story (1995)
That wasn't flying! That was... falling with style!
So basically: Andy is a little boy with plenty of toys: Woody the cowboy, Bo Peep, Hamm the piggy bank, Rex the dinosaur, Mr Potato Head, Slinky the slinky dog, and many others. What Andy doesn't know is that his toys come to life when he isn't around. Woody is happy with the way things are, but when Andy has a birthday party and receives a Buzz Lightyear action figure, things go sour. Andy starts playing with Buzz more than Woody, and changes his sheets and the pictures on his wall to match his new favourite toy. To add to Woody's frustration, Buzz thinks he's an actual space ranger and the other toys must convince him that he is a child's play thing. Woody, fed up with Buzz, tries to knock him behind a dresser, but instead knocks him out the window. When Andy can't find Buzz, he takes Woody to Pizza Planet where, on the way over, Buzz pulls Woody out of the car, leaving them stranded! Now, the two of them must work together to get back to Andy's house.
There's just something about this movie that makes it lovable. The characters, simple toys, are all very familiar and identifiable to anyone watching. The conflict and message of the movie is warm hearted and done in a way that isn't cliché or cheesy. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are brilliant! And Woody and Buzz are a perfect match for each other. This film is, like most if not all Disney movies, enjoyable by people of all ages!
This should totes be higher on the list, I think. It's awesome.
Ziggi seal of approval!
