Donnie Darko (2001)

Trailer

28 days... 6 hours... 42 minutes... 12 seconds. That... is when the world... will end.
So basically: One night, Donnie Darko follows a visibly challenged, 6 foot bunny rabbit named Frank out of his house. Frank tells Donnie that the world will end in twenty-eight days. The next morning, after waking up at a golf course, Donnie returns home to find a jet engine has fallen into his bedroom; if he had been there he would have been killed. Throughout the next 28 days, Donnie tries to figure out who Frank is and why he has been spared. His journey takes him to a book called The Philosophy of Time Travel by a local woman who everything thinks is crazy.

What an colossal overrated piece of hogwash! The acting is terrible, the main character is an annoying emo kid, and the plot is just uninteresting. Yep.

This has no right to be on the list whatsoever. I get it's a cult classic and everything, that's fine. Let it stay that way.

Ziggi seal of disapproval!

  1. Really? Really? I can see you hating the seond one but the first? Really?

    Are you sure?

I mean yeah people hype it up to be amazing but it is still GOOD. And I want to bone his nerdy ass - when he rants to his friends about the androgyny of Smurfette? *sighs* Love me some nerd boys...

Anyways the movie is essentially a much earlier version of the butterfly effect. Only waaay crazier.

Useless? Yes. Though I enjoy the movie at the end of it I'm only left with "Do they come because these things happen or do these things happen because they come?" and unlike most time travel movies I'm not happy when things are resolved, because Donnie has to die for things to be resolved. Which makes me feel like a waste of time, why spare him if only to kill him?

You might actually like the second one, his sister is a total lesbo.

  3. I also hate this film. But srs, the acting is NOT bad. I also hate Jake G, but his acting in DD is really really good! The acting and the ridiculously amazing score make this overrated piece of hogwash watchable.

  5. Obviously you are only looking at and can only see the surface content of the movie.
In the same way that I am positive that if you read any shakespeare you would conclude that it doesn't make sense, it's too hard to read, and everyone talks funny.

  6. That's quite a bold statement to make about somebody.
And not a very accurate one at that. I do happen to enjoy Shakespeare, thank you
