Jaws (1975)

Trailer

I'm not going to waste my time arguing with a man who's lining up to be a hot lunch.
So basically: On an island and popular summer destination, the beaches are terrorized by a killer shark. The local authorities refuse to do anything about it, fearing the acknowledgement of the incidents will lose them money. Thus, the responsibility lies with Cheif Martin Brody, oceanographer and shark enthusiast Matt Hooper, and navy vet turned shark hunter Sam Quint.

Ah, Jaws. Who hasn't heard of Jaws? It's definitely a classic, but that doesn't make it good. I mean, it's a monster movie and all monster movies are the same, just with a different type of monster. So, yeah, it's slightly boring that way. The characters are alright, but hardly anything special, either. And it takes them forever to actually go out and hunt the shark, and even then it doesn't build up well. Only near the very end, when Hooper goes into the cage, is it thrilling/suspenseful really.

I think people should see this just because, well, it's Jaws! But it doesn't deserve to be on the list.

Ziggi seal of disapproval!
