Metropolis (1927)

Trailer

There can be no understanding between the hand and the brain unless the heart acts as mediator.
So basically: In a futuristic society, the two classes are greatly divided. The upper class lives in luxury on the Earth's surface, while the lower class lives in the depths, keeping the city running. When the son of the city's mastermind falls in love with a working class girl, he fulfills her prophecy and becomes the mediator between the two classes.

Yawn! How boring. And I'm not just saying that because it was made in 1927. Every other silent film I've seen I've found, at the very least, to be enjoyable. This story is so over-done that one would have to have a very unique way of telling it for it to be remotely interesting. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't cut it. None of the characters are even worth watching, either.

This movie is very boring plot-wise and shouldn't be on the list.

Ziggi seal of disapproval!

    1. You’ve got be kidding. This is one of the best silent films and possibly one of the most important movies ever made. Also, with movies like V for Vendetta, The Dark Knight Rises, and How to Train Your Dragon on the list, it’s far from being the worst movie on the list.

  3. are you like 15?? this film is an expressionist/existential masterpiece ... you call this boring and lacking in plot and yet you fawn over 2001 which is probably on par with this in terms of pace :\ why? because it's cool to like kubrick but you've never heard of fritz lang?

  4. You mention the fact that Metropolis was made in 1927 but you fail to appreciate the significance. Metropolis was way ahead of it's time. With whatever technology was available at that time of it's making, Fritz Lang has managed to create a masterpiece that is still enjoyable today and can still hold it's own against movies made using the latest technology and with multi-million dollar budgets.

    Holomodo...

  5. Wow, this is an incredibly bad tale. This is of the greatest, most influential films for the silent era, but no talking, so of course you found it boring. Go watch Transformers flicks.
